The Green Energy Training Programme kicked off in Kilkenny on 4th May with a fully packed classroom on the Renewable Energy Systems course. The programme is being support under the Leader programme with Carlow Kilkenny Energy Agency facilitating the running of the courses.

No better time for these courses to be run with the governments announcement of a new Better Energy Scheme which will see the upgrade of one million homes and businesses by 2020 and the creation of 5,000 jobs in 2011 (http://bit.ly/motdNx).

Over the month of May and June there is a series of courses being run including Green Building, Start your own Green Business & Green Business Marketing (http://bit.ly/ikmLmZ). The courses are free for the unemployed to attend. It was great to see that all courses have been over subscribed so a demand definitely exists. And due to the demand for the introductory course on Renewable Energy Systems there will be an additional course run at the end of June. A more technical batch of courses are planned for Autumn 2011.

An intensive Wind Industry course is starting at the end of May (http://bit.ly/m9goCo). Again the target group is the unemployed. There are still places left on this course so to book a place please contact Jane on 056 7752111.
