Celebrating Kilkenny Traveller Pride Week

In Conversation Event: Sept 30

Kilkenny Traveller Community Movement partnered up with KLP and the Butler Gallery to host an In Conversation evening as part of Traveller Pride Week  at St Canices Cathedral last night. The conversation facilitated by Journalist Vincent Browne  south to explore What is Culture? Vincent was in conversation with playwright Rosaleen McDonagh, Mary McDonagh from and KTCM activist Helena Power. 

Opening up Rosaleen said that ‘culture is not buildings and institutions built but is what lies beneath the surface, its what we live every day that is culture’ setting the tone of the conversation for the evening.   View the live video here:

Traveller Pride Poster

This poster was designed by the children in the KTCM Afterschools Club in O’Loughlin Court & Respond After schools Project in Millennium Court. Using Pear Cuts workshops the aim was draw out the images that represent the Travelling Community for the children who participated. Facilitated by Hannah McCormick and Paul Bokslag who designed this poster from the workshop.
